An Irish Golf Day....

Day After Day ... After Day ... After Day

Line

Awake Early

Golfers striding out onto the greens at Luttrellstown Castle GC ...to the distant sound of waves breaking on the beach with the incoming tide, and the smell of the traditional hearty Irish breakfast bacon and fresh home baked-bread wafting upwards -- the prerequisite to a golf day that becomes mandatory. Having had the exposure once, you are going to feel deprived and handicapped if you have to start a days golf in Ireland without this, from here on in!

And So To Golf

Ireland is a country blessed by a landscape and climate that have produced some of the greatest golf courses in the world ... both Links and Parkland. Ballybunion / New Lahinch

Of the 160 Links courses in the world, one quarter [40] are in Ireland, (and unlikely to be many more in this more environmentally conscious world) .e.g. Ballybunion, Waterville, Portmarnock, Newcastle, Lahinch, Portrush, Baltray, Enniscrone, Murvagh, Rosses Point, Ballyliffin, etc. (five of these are rated in the Top 100 Worldwide)

To these Links courses have been added recently some magnificent parkland courses, that meet the required high standards of the International golfer, but still keep in touch with the spirit of golf in Ireland Druid's Glen

e.g. Mount Juliet, The K Club, The Druids Glen, Fota Island, Adare, St. Margarets, Luttrellstown Castle, Galway Bay, Rathsallagh, etc.

You will enjoy one exhilarating days golf after another on any of these championship courses, or on any other less well known unexpected and outstanding gems of golf , combining the demanding Links challenge, greens like moist billiard tables, and fascinating views of land and sea that can be spoken of in the same breath as Pebble Beach.

There is quite simply no better place to play golf.

Apres Golf

Dining room at Mt. Juliet You will of course build an appetite particular to the fresh clean Irish air , known only to those who have experienced it before, but there is yet another wonderful surprise awaiting the uninitiated...i.e., the truly high quality of the modern Irish Kitchen, that delivers both simple foods and grand foods ....from the unpretentious pleasingly simple seasonal dishes , to the sumptuous concoctions melding flavours inventively, all the while respecting the local fresh ingredients. And invariably served with an eagerness and warmth matching that emanating from big open log fires so often encountered.

But you have to know where to eat otherwise eating can be "a disappointing and surprisingly expensive experience for the first time visitor in Ireland" (Phinney & Whitley in their book Links of Heaven).

Pub Musicians Perhaps a nightcap or two (after all, a bird never flew on one wing) in a 'real' Irish pub, before retiring to yet another of the wonderful places to stay ?

Dare I add, as an old golfing wag here in Ireland used to say . . . . 'after that all that's left to make the day complete is a smoky young gypsy on the way home' . . . . ah, but that was in the pre 'politically correct' days!

And, with the well planned itinerary by GOLF IRLANDPLUS you can rest assured that, to- morrow can be just as unbelievably good as to-day.

Come Golf in Ireland ... feel the Welcome ... share the Magic ... taste the Charm.
